The 5-foot-8, 145-pound junior won the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.09 seconds at the New England Outdoor Championships this past season, and finished second in the 300 intermediate hurdles in 38.21. Powers also won the 110 hurdles (14.07) and the 300 hurdles (38.71) at the state Meet of Champions and captured the 110 hurdles crown at the Division I championships.
Powers has maintained a 3.13 GPA in the classroom. He will begin his senior year of high school this fall.
Also a talented musician, he has volunteered locally on behalf of the Rotary International Interact community service club. "Billy is a well-rounded, hard-working young man," said Winnacunnet coach Kara Seager. "He's a true champion, both physically and mentally. He always gives his best and never hesitates when faced with adversity."
