The 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior thrower swept the discus and shot put events at both the Division III state meet and the Meet of Champions this past season. Diehn led the Royals to a second-place finish as a team at the Div. III state meet and went on to finish fifth in the discus in the New England Track and Field Championships, earning All-New England honors in the process. He launched the discus 183 feet, 11 inches at the Mascoma Field Events Meet in April, which was a personal-best.
Diehn has maintained a 3.99 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to compete on scholarship at Penn State University this fall.
A Life Scout in Scouting America, Diehn is president of his school’s Student Council. Also a practiced piano, guitar, trombone and bass player, he has volunteered locally on behalf of the Mascoma Theater and in association with his membership in the National Honor Society. He has also donated his time coaching youth track athletes.
