The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, the 5-foot-6 senior right-handed pitcher batted .708 with 20 home runs and 56 RBI this past season, leading the Spartans (23-5) to the Class 4A state quarterfinals. Carlson scored 56 runs, stole 11 bases and drew 35 walks to compile an .808 on-base percentage and a 1.815 slugging percentage. She concluded her prep softball career with 72 home runs, which ranks third in national history, and 252 RBI, which ranks fourth.
Carlson has maintained a weighted 3.55 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a national letter of intent to play softball on scholarship at the University of Oregon this fall.
Carlson has volunteered locally on a campaign that raised more than $60,000 for the neonatal intensive care unit at the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. A photographer for the Marist school newspaper, she has also donated her time as a youth softball coach.
