At the time of his selection, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound senior right-handed pitcher had led the Mustangs to an 18-6 record and the second round winners’ bracket of the AAAA Section 5 tournament. Gette compiled a record of 6-0 over 36.2 innings on the mound with a 0.77 ERA, fanning 65 batters against just 13 walks. He averaged 1.8 Ks per inning through 23 games. He also batted .266 with nine RBIs and a home run.
Gette has maintained a 3.47 GPA in the classroom. He has signed a written letter of athletic aid to play baseball at the University of Miami this fall.
Gette has volunteered locally with Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food to those in need. He has also donated his time as a Best Buddy to kids with disabilities at soccer, bowling and basketball events.
