The state’s 2023-24 Gatorade Girls Cross Country Player of the Year, the 5-foot junior distance talent won Class A state titles in the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter events this past season and anchored the first-place 4x800 relay quartet as the Yellowjackets won the Class A state championship. Sauro’s season-best clockings in the 3,200 (10:16.44) and the 1,600 (a personal-best 4:49.72) ranked No. 32 and No. 65, respectively, among girls prep competitors nationally this spring.
Sauro has maintained a 4.06 in the classroom. She has verbally committed to run on scholarship at the University of Tennessee in the fall of 2025.
A member of the National Honor Society as well as her Roads Methodist Church youth group, Sauro has volunteered locally by cleaning up the home football stadium after fall home games. She has also donated her time by writing goodwill messages to the elderly and infirm in her community.
