The 5-foot-5 junior jumper and vaulter repeated as champion in the triple jump and pole vault at the Class C state meet this past season, leading the Stars to the team title. Onnen’s winning vault clearance of 13 feet, 0.25 inches broke a meet record and ranked No. 24 nationally among girls prep competitors this spring. Her season-best leap of 39-2.5 in the triple jump ranked No. 85 nationally. Onnen also took third in the long jump at the state meet and ran the third leg on Kearney Catholic’s runner-up 4x100-meter relay quartet.
Onnen has maintained a 4.38 weighted GPA in the classroom. She will begin her senior year of high school this fall.
Onnen started her own exfoliation business, Perfectly Pampered by Alyssa, as an 11-year-old. She has volunteered locally with the Special Olympics and as a youth track coach. She has also donated her time to multiple community service initiatives through her church youth group.
