“If you were to take away Alec's athletic performances he would still be one of our most valuable team members.If you were to take away Alec's athletic performances he would still be one of our most valuable team members. The atmosphere that he helps create with his positive attitude and work ethic makes everyone around him want to work that much harder. This year it would have been easy for many of our better athletes to shy away from the hurdle events, Alec was defending champion in both events and was a roadblock to other athletes winning that event. Instead he helped other athletes embrace the events and work to get better at them. At the state meet this year our team took 1st, 4th, and 5th in the 110 hurdles and swept 1st through 4th place in the 300 hurdles. Alec helped create an expectation that we would be the best hurdlers in the state. It is this leadership on and off the field that makes Alec a true Gatorade Athlete of the Year.”
