The 5-foot-6 senior distance talent set two state records and finished unbeaten individually in her home state this past season, leading the Tigers to a sixth-place team finish at the Class 4A state championships. Also the state’s Gatorade Girls Cross Country POY this year, Dorenkamp won a national title at Nike Outdoor Nationals in the 2-mile, breaking the tape in 9 minutes, 59.62 seconds to smash the previous state standard. She crossed the line in 4:40.82 in the mile at the HOKA Festival of Miles to break the state record by more than a second. She also swept the 1500- and 3000-meter titles at the state meet with times of 4:25.32 and 9:30.64, respectively.
Dorenkamp has maintained a weighted 3.96 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on scholarship at the University of Alabama this fall.
Dorenkamp has volunteered locally on behalf of Operation Christmas Child, an organization which provides shoe boxes filled with gifts for boys and girls around the world. She has also donated her time to the Meals From The Heartland program, which empowers people to fight child hunger.
