The 5-foot-6 senior won the Class 4A state title this past season, breaking the tape in an all-class best 17:41.5 to clock the fourth-fastest state meet time by an Iowa athlete in the history of the Fort Dodge course. It turns out Dorenkamp was just getting started, moving on to become the state’s top finisher at the Nike Cross Heartland Regional (7th), the Foot Locker Midwest Region championship (9th), the national RunningLane XC Championships (5th) and Foot Locker nationals (17th). Also the state’s 2021-22 Gatorade Player of the Year, she crossed the line at NXR Heartland in a personal-best 17:32.70.
Dorenkamp has maintained a weighted 3.88 GPA in the classroom. She has signed a national letter of intent to run on scholarship at the University of Alabama this fall.
A participant in Operation Christmas Drive, Dorenkamp has volunteered locally as part of food and clothing drives. She has also donated her time on behalf of the DM Marathon, Ironman competitions, the Valley Youth Track Club and a summer camp, associated with her church community. ”
